A BRIEF HISTORY OF WEST DRAYTON BAPTIST CHURCH

In 1817 some Baptists from Harlington conspired with some independents from Uxbridge and started a non-conformist cause in the village of West Drayton which then had a population of 600 or so.

In 1826 Andrew Gunter Fuller settled in the village and joined the evangelical fellowship which by then numbered about 130 souls. Under his strong leadership a chapel was built in 1827 and, with him as a pastor, West Drayton Baptist Church was founded.

In 1925 the church moved from Money Lane to the present site in Swan Road in order to occupy a more central position in what had now become a small industrial town through which ran the Grand Union Canal and the Great Western Railway.

With the development of Heathrow Airport and the arrival of the M4 Motorway, West Drayton expanded rapidly and has now a population over 10,000 people.

For few years now West Drayton Baptist Church doesn’t have a pastor. Our services are led in turns by godly people serving the Lord in West Drayton proximity but not only. We had speakers from virtually all over the world including Brazil , USA , South Africa , Nigeria to name just a few.

In 2008 our church on a Sunday morning brings together on average about 30 souls. We are a small church with big dreams, so big that only God can turn them in reality.
